Hunee is on it

My first exposure to Hunee, otherwise known as Berlin based DJ and Producer Hun Choi, was through his remix of Virgo Four's excellent "It's A Crime". Since then I've been running into more and more of Choi's tracks and have always come away impressed. Hunee infuses just enough soul into a framework of techy house sounds to please music fans from all ends of the spectrum.

Get to know the man by checking out his blog Here. Also check out some goodies from Soundcloud below. - Weap

John Talabot releases Fin

The first exposure that I had to Barcelonian producer John Talabot was his "My Old School" 12" that was released on Permanent Vacation in 2009. The standout track then was "Afrika", an understated builder that uses elements of flamenco guitar, tribal vocals, and a strong kick drum to create a completely infectious groove.

Over the past couple of years Talabot has been releasing a steady stream of tracks that range from disco burners to new wave tinged pop.

Talabot is set to release his first full length, fin via Permanent Vacation. Here are previews of a couple tracks from the album off Talabot's Soundcloud page:

And here is a recent release of his that I could listen to on an endless loop for a million years:

Bonny's, Here We Come!

All of us at Glue are jacked to announce that the party has landed at Bonny's in Logan Square, Chicago. We checked out a few different locations but decided on Bonny's because we love it's edge, soul, and the fact that we can get down until 4AM. Glue will have it's Bonny's debut on March 8th with a very special guest set from our friend Bridget Marie. We're also working on putting together some great drink specials and Glue schwag. It's not a night to miss! See you on the floor.

Glue to upgrade venue

We here at Glue are very excited to announce that we will be parting ways with GRANDBAR and upgrading venues in the coming months. It became clear after the first week that we and the management and staff at GRANDBAR do not share the same vision for what a modern dance party sounds and feels like.

That being said, we were thrilled with the support that Glue received from a terrific group of close and extended friends. Keep an eye out for the re-launch, which we promise to bring on with a bang.

In the meantime, we will continue to update this blog with music, news and content that fits the Glue aesthetic. Here's to a 2012 full of groove and soul!

Nicholas provides latest Resident Advisor podcast

By all accounts Italian producer Nicholas had a very big 2011.

His vinyl only "No More Hits" label churned out a steady stream of edits while Nicholas' productions found their way onto a number of quality labels such as 4Lux, Quintessentials and On The Prowl.

On top of all that, Nicholas credits the Chicago record label "Prescription" as his number one influence. You have to love that!

The producer looks to be starting 2012 off with a bang by providing us with the most recent installment of the excellent Resident Advisor podcast.

You can check it out either via ITunes or Direct Download and get a feel for what Nicholas is all about.

There is also extensive content available on his Soundcloud Page.

If that all seems like too much work, just click play on this:

Free Psychemagik remix of Azari & III

One of my favorite new producers in 2011 was the British duo Psychemagik. These guys have been putting out a steady stream of edits that range from deeper cuts like "Wake Up Everybody" to tropical disco sounds like "Carnaval De Troncoso" and even updates on old favorites like Talking Heads' "Naive Melody"and Fleetwood Mac's "Everywhere".

Their most recent remix adds a bit of density and acid to one of the most highly regarded Nu-Disco tracks of the last couple years: Azari & III's "Reckless With Your Love". Psychemagik have been kind enough to offer up the remix as a free download from their Soundcloud page - you should probably go snag a copy. If you want to listen first - here ya go.

Glue IV with Queen B (Orchard Lounge, Lokkenic)

We at Glue are really excited for the party we have in store for next week.  In a proper wrap up of the first month of Glue we are bringing through a very special guest in Queen B, one third of the excellent trio Orchard Lounge.

Queen B is coming off a very busy 2011 in which she toured all over the country playing shows with Orchard Lounge as well as on her own.  She played alongside some of the most renowned acts of the last year including Nicolas Jaar, Benoit & Sergio, and Resident Advisors #1 DJ of 2011, Jamie Jones.

To gear up for next week's party, check out a mix that Queen B put together along with her husband Spencer Lokken.  The mix offers an eclectic and heady concoction of warm techno and deep house sounds with a splash of disco to balance everything out.  Just the way we like it here at Glue.

Enjoy, and we'll see you on Tuesday!
